Sandals Foundation Partners with Cornwall Regional Hospital

Fundraising Drive to assist Pediatric Ward in full gear

Giving the Gift of life – one child at a time

Every so often we have an opportunity to do something very significant and leave an indelible mark on our community.

We have been made aware of the desperate need of the Cornwall Regional Hospital, which is one of the primary care facility for the Western end of the island of Jamaica.

One of the key areas in need of improvement is that of the pediatric ward.  The vulnerability of the children that must be served in this ward is seen in the lack of adequate equipment and the requisite space for their treatment and care.

The Sandals Foundation, since November 2011, has partnered with the institution to improve its ability to care for our nation’s children.

In this regard our desire is to be able to raise US $100,000.00 towards the effort. Each Sandals, Beaches and Grand Pineapple resort in western Jamaica will be undertaking a series of fundraising activities on resort with the aim of reaching this goal.

Guests visiting any of these resorts can participate by making a donation at any of the revenue areas – front desk, gift shop, photo shop.

Cornwall Regional Hospital was opened in 1974 (37 years ago)

  • Serves residents  across 4 western parishes with 7,620 patients seen on average each month
  • The Hospital has bed capacity of 417 with 286 nurses and 165 doctors
  • The aim is to assist in securing funding for the hospital’s varied needs by working alongside the Ministry of Health and the hospital’s management and staff in the campaign to deliver better health care to patients.
